Most able excel at Greenshaw

Greenshaw is proud to be a comprehensive school that values every student – from the least to the most able – and develops a love of learning in its students and helps them to excel – and to ‘be remarkable’.

The school has an impressive record of helping its brighter students to achieve high academic results and to go on to top courses at the best universities.

Greenshaw provides special support to its most able students. This includes: top quality teachers, mentors and specialist coaches to help them reach their full potential; a specialist curriculum offer with additional learning in Maths and English and access to A level work during year 11;  targeted activities and programmes such as summer schools; student visits to Russell Group universities; additional support with preparation for interviews; and talks from leaders of industry.

The school has a thriving and popular sixth form of over 400 students. 3 out of 5 Greenshaw students stay on into the sixth form, which also attracts students from other schools including local grammar schools.

Greenshaw students’ successes in the last couple of years include going to Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Durham and Nottingham, to study a broad range of subjects including medicine, engineering, architecture, economics and dentistry.
